(1) Keep a diary of incidents and dates
of the alleged bullying
(2) If possible make the person
aware of your concerns
(3) If the behaviour continues,
raise the issue with your supervisor, or a management representative
(4) Remember that you cannot say
to your manager “I do not want the matter taken any further but
I am being bullied, because management are required by law to take action
once they are aware of a possible breach of the OHS/W Act
(5) If management do not take appropriate
actions, then put your complaint in writing
(6) If still not actioned then
consider a formal complaint to Safework SA, this will result in a government
inspector conducting an investigation
(7) You need to keep in mind that
once you have taken the steps of 5 and 6 the bullying make increase
significantly
(8) Request the organisation to
provide internal an external employee support program
(9) If there is a suggestion from
the organisation that you may wish to consider a move to another dept
,seriously consider the matter before making a decision, the focus should
be to address the OHS/W hazard not the simply remove the injured.
(10) Remember the direction is
not to seek a public hanging of the bully but an assurance that the
inappropriate behaviour ceases
